Controlling TiVo Remotely with Verizon?

I heard from someone today that there was an agreement reached between Verizon and TiVo that would allow you to use your Verizon service (cell phone?) to control your TiVo remotely. They didn't have any details, but was curious if anyone heard anything about this partnership. I did a quick google search and came up empty.

Here's a link to the official press release on that:

VERIZON WIRELESS, TIVO PARTNER TO TAKE TIVO TO MOBILE PHONES

Its essentially an extension of the ability to remotely program your TiVo using the tivo.com portal (you are not connecting to your TiVo remotely, just logging into TiVo's server so that when your unit connects for its "daily call" it can retrieve additional programming information.

The bad news is that these capabilities are only available on Series2 Standalone units; the only units elible to run version 7.X of the TiVo OS.

The good news is that if you have an older Standalone unit, or a DirecTV TiVo unit (other than the R10) then there are better ways to solve the same problem; ie. connect your TiVo to your home network, and access your unit DIRECTLY for immediate gratification...
