"Must try Democracy" , says big IPTV fan

I have already taken the plunge into IPTV both with video podcasts (or vodcasts) and with Akimbo which downloads all its content over the Internet. But the latest thing to grab my attention is Democracy, a new app that beautifully combines RSS/BitTorrent with the universal VLC media player to create the first truly useful PC-based Internet DVR.

If, like me, you are exploring the exciting new world of Internet content, then I implore you (is that too strong?) to check out Democracy. Its completely free and provides convenient access to hundreds of existing Internet "channels" where the content is downloaded (vs. streamed) to your PC.

It cross-platform and well written, providing an iTunes like interface which will appeal to TiVo owners.

Check it out and come back to share your thoughts.

VLC though? I agree that it has power - it plays just about everything without the need for codecs. But it leaves a lot to be desired in the UI department. My favorite PC media player is Zoom Player.

I promise to try out Zoom but what more do you need in the UI of the player itself? Isn't it all about the content playback?
